Grade 5 at a museum

Last month, Grade 5 went to the "Museo del banco" - The Bank Museum in the centre of Lima. This museum has displays on the history of Peru, a look at different cultures in Peru today, and also a room of Peruvian paintings.

In the picture gallery everyone sat on the floor and had to descibe their favourite pictures in English, for the other children to guess.

After the museum we went to the central square in Lima and saw the Preseidental Palace and the Cathedral, put we prefered chasing the pigeons!

Grade 6 at the British Embassy

Last month grade 6 went to visit the British Embassy. (www.britishembassy.gov.uk/peru)

We took a Book of Condolence, in memory of those who died in the London Bombings of July 7th. The book was signed by all the children and teachers in the school, and we said prayers for London during Formacion.

We met the British Ambassador's representative, Ian Davies.

We did a computer quiz on the United Kingdom.
Some of the questions were:
Que es la noche de Guy Fawkes?
(What is Guy Fawkes Night?)

Como es el clima en el Reino Unido?
(How is the weather in the United Kingdom?)

Cual es la universidad mas antigua del Reino Unido?
(Which is the oldest university in the United Kingdom?)

Cual es el plato mas popular del Reino Unido?
(What is the most popular food in the United Kingdom?)

Cuanta gente habla ingles en el mundo ?
(How many people speak English in the world?)

After the embassy we ate icecreams on the beach and threw stones into the Pacific Ocean.
We looked at what was washed up on the beach from the sea and wondered where they had come from. We collected objects for our classroom:
crabs
shells
feathers
polystyrene
sea urchins

After the beach, we returned to school.
